Deleting an account might delete the blog or blogs it owns—but it might not.
And deleting the account might have other effects on a blog, too.
Accounts can only be deleted by the account owner or, under some circumstances, by Google.
All Blogger accounts today are Google accounts. Any pre-Google "legacy" accounts not converted to Google (many were) have been deleted.
What gets gone
If there is more than one account on the blog, deleting means
- the blog will persist
- the blog posts from the deleted account will also persist
- comments made on Blogger from the deleted accounts will persist too, but will be anonymized.
Author accounts
However, images uploaded from the deleted account will be deleted and replaced with this:
Recommendation
Deleting can have unexpected side effects and can't be reversed after 90 days.
Keeping the account costs you nothing, and avoids regret down the road.

Very interesting... just yesterday I got an email from Google saying if I didn't log in soon, my account could be deactivated. Didn't make sense to me, I use my Google account everyday. I was convinced it was a malicious sender, trying to get my password. It turns out, it really was from Google. I hadn't opened my gmail account in over a year.
ReplyDeleteGMail is one of the services that can be deleted if "inactive." The rest of the account remains intact in such situations.
DeleteBlogger has no such requirement but if Google deletes the entire account for inactivity, the consequences I describe above ensue.
I've previously published a report on this development, and steps to protect your blog.
I assume this follows the same path for their recent wonderful idea of auto-deleting.
ReplyDeleteIf by that you mean the relatively recent practice of deleting inactive accounts, yes very much so. See my answer to @ApcheDug's comment above!
DeleteOne way it complicates things for Blogger is that if you once used a different account and abandoned it, deleting that account will delete any images you uploaded from it.
can IT be reversed BEFORE 90 days ??
DeleteTHX
@Frank, it depends, but generally it's possible. It becomes impossible after 90 days.
